A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE GREY BORDERS READING SERIES
The series was founded by Jordan Fry, now founder and editor of Grey Borders Books and other independent literary projects in Niagara Falls. The series began as a successful effort to forge a literary community that appreciates literature aesthetically and intellectually. Later on, the Grey Borders Reading Series was passed on to poet, scholar and editor Gregory Betts who carried the series into new territory, building on Fry’s foundations and forging new ties with the literary and artistic communities of St. Catharines. The responsibility of curatorship now rests with Eric Schmaltz. Schmaltz is a writer, scholar and longtime Niagara resident who seeks to embrace the goodwill the series has received over its past many years. Schmaltz will continue to provide an engaging literary forum for the St. Catharines and Niagara community.
