Kaleidoscope Kids’ Books—“Ottawa’s Only Children’s Bookstore”—was opened in February 2006 by three partners, Kim Ferguson, Kelly Harrison, and Karin Fuller. The three women met when their daughters were in the same Senior Kindergarten class in school and soon realized that they all shared the same dream: to one day open their own bookstore. A few years later, that dream finally became a reality and they’ve been having a blast ever since!

The store, located at 1018 Bank Street in the Glebe in Ottawa, features a wide variety of books for children of all ages. When adding to their collection, they tend to avoid books that can be found in drugstores as well as books based on television programs. They focus instead on the “classics”—both old and new—and on the books they know their customers will love. “We’ve seen readers grow up through our shelves so we like to keep our eyes open for what fits with their ‘collections’,” says Kim. It is this kind of personalized service that customers have come to expect from Kaleidoscope, and it’s the reason they keep coming back.

Next time you are in Ottawa be sure to check out Kaleidoscope Kids’ Books. Until then, you can learn more about this wonderful bookstore from their website: http://www.kaleidoscopekidsbooks.ca/index.html.
