Spring Pulse Poetry Festival has partnered since 2008 with the Temiskaming Palette and Brush Club, under the co-ordination of past President Tyna Silver, to exhibit paintings with poetry. We also created a competition for the best painting/poem. No other poetry festival in Canada and the world is giving artists a chance to share and showcase their poetic gifts.
We decided in 2013 to open PoeARTry North to other Northern Ontario Art Association members and non-members in Northern Ontario. With it eventually being a Canadian competition and finally a biannual international event. On Wednesday July 16, the first reception/award ceremony was held at the Mezzanine Gallery Classic Theatre Cobalt. Upwards of 80 people were in attendance including 5 of the winners. Twenty one painting/poem entries came from Sault Ste. Marie to South Porcupine.
