Don't let the end of summer discourage you from packing your tent and heading out to enjoy a weekend along the beautiful shores of Lake Huron. At MacGregor Point Provinical Park, you can enjoy the best of both worlds: an arts festival in the wilderness!

The MacGregor Point Provincial Park, located near Port Elgin, will run its annual Wild for the Arts Festival on Saturday, September 15th and Sunday, September 16th. The festival — which celebrates many styles of art — has invited Markdale author Lynn Wyvill to act as Writer in Residence. Lynn will join painters, potters and musicians in encouraging festival participants to explore their creative side. From her campsite in the Ash Woods campground, she'll offer drop-in activities, work on a collaborative poem and organize a Cluster Writing workshop. "This valuable strategy will pull from the beautiful setting and help organize ideas," she says. "It can be fun for families to do together or for writers gathering thoughts to write about nature." She will also read from her own work, which includes nature-themed poetry that has been published in Mosaic, The Leaf and Brushstrokes and collected in her book Wild Clematis.

Lynn is thrilled to be appointed Writer in Residence for this unique festival. "In the natural world I find the soul of my writing," she says. "My breathing slows and my senses become more acute...Nature is limitless in inspiration, and always surprising."

Daily admission to the Wild for the Arts Festival is free, with many arts-related
activities for children and adults. For more details, please visit friendsofmacgregor.org.
