The Rosedale Hoax, by Rachel Wyatt

Pickle Me This writer Kerry Clare reviews Rachel Wyatt’s The Rosedale Hoax (House of Anansi, 1977). In The Rosedale Hoax, Rachel Wyatt satirizes upper-crust Toronto, telling the story of Bob Ferrand, a nuclear engineer who has a troubled marriage with Martha. As the son of a peach farmer, Bob has married well, but is conscious of his status as an outsider and seeks solace with his mistress, Elsa. Kerry describes the novel as having a "dark humour and deep sense of whimsy," also suggesting that the book is "not even remotely dated." She states that she will be keeping an eye out for Rachel Wyatt’s other novels and that other readers should too.
