Writers and music lovers, take note. House of Anansi and the record label Arts & Crafts want you to enter the Broken Social Scene Story Contest. The contest asks writers to send in a short story that incorporates a track from the Broken Social Scene's hit album, You Forget It In People. From our friends at Anansi:
The Broken Social Scene Story Contest celebrates Arts & Crafts’ ten-year anniversary, and specifically honours You Forgot It In People, the acclaimed album that launched the record label and caused a sensation worldwide.
House of Anansi will be accepting short fiction submissions that use one of the thirteen tracks from You Forgot It In People as either the title or theme of the story. Submissions will be juried by House of Anansi Senior Editor Jared Bland and the finalists will be judged by Bland as well as Broken Social Scene members Brendan Canning, Leslie Feist and Charles Spearin. Submissions will be accepted electronically from January 21st until March 29th, and thirteen finalists will be announced on May 24, 2013. Three winners will be selected from the list of thirteen, announced on May 30, 2013, and awarded additional prizes.
The top thirteen short stories will be published as The Broken Social Scene Story Project: Short Works Inspired by You Forgot It In People on June 8, 2013 as an ebook, powered by Anansi Digital, under House of Anansi’s new short story imprint Astoria.
