The Trillium Book Awards, which honour the best books written by Ontario authors each year, always have a tough task set for their judges. The wealth of writing talent in Ontario is staggering, and every year the shortlists boast a selection amongst which any judge would have a hard time choosing. We live in the province of Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro, Miriam Toews, Michael Ondaatje, Dionne Brand and many more — and every year, innovative, emerging authors join the ranks. It's hard news for Trillium judges but great news for readers.
If you are one of those books lovers enjoying the great stories, novels and poetry coming from Ontario authors, you won't want to miss the chance to see and hear from the 2015 nominated authors in person!
The Ontario Media Development Corporation, which administers the Trillium awards, are hosting a reading and author reception event the day before the prize is announced, and the event is open to the public. You can reserve your free tickets here.
The event begins at 7:00p.m. (doors at 6:30) on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at the Toronto Reference Library (789 Yonge Street), in the beautiful Bram and Bluma Appel Salon on the library's second floor.
This year's list is an impressive one, with both exciting new voices and iconic authors we've loved for years, including former poet laureate of Toronto, Dionne Brand, pictured above.
