The gritLIT Festival is coming up and will run from April 3rd to April 7th, 2013. GritLIT is a Hamilton literary festival that was created by Hamilton writer and writing teacher, Krista Foss, in 2004. Since then, with the goal of engaging the community with literary culture and local writers, it has grown into a larger-scale festival with a much wider audience. This year’s lineup is an impressive mix of Canadian authors.

Authors in attendance will include Miranda Hill, Natalie Zina Walschots and Open Book’s Grace O’Connell. Open Book: Toronto’s March Writer-in-Residence, Elizabeth Ruth, will also be part of the festival with her event taking place on April 4th, which will also include Vincent Lam and Tanis Rideout. Brian Henderson and Roo Borson will be reading on April 4th at a separate event. Jamie Swift will be giving a talk on his new book Warrior Nation: Rebranding Canada in an Age of Anxiety on April 6.

In addition to the above events, there will be many other authors at gritLIT. Please head over to the gritLIT Festival website to view the full Festival Schedule. For further information about the festival, also check out Open Book: Ontario’s Literary Landmark for gritLIT.
