Ontario Book Publishers Organization (OBPO), Open Book Foundation

Ontario’s book publishers are seeking an Executive Director (ED) for its two organizations. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED executes and guides the organizations’ objectives and activities in a policy framework. The ED organizes OBPO and Open Book events and the editorial activity of the Open Book websites and supporting online activity including social networks, e-newsletters, mobile pages, and the iOS application. This includes analyzes and evaluations of all organizational operations. The ED represents the organizations to funding bodies, other agencies, community and civic organizations, donors, funders and supporters, and the general public.

The ideal candidate holds a certificate in publishing from a recognized educational institution and a minimum of two years’ work experience, or the equivalent in professional experience.

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, responsible and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. The ideal candidate has strong editing and writing skills, good knowledge of email and social media best practices, and of Word, Excel, HTML and other web applications.

The ED position is full-time and requires some work on evenings and weekends. The ED will need to be in Toronto on a regular basis. The ED will work either in an OBPO office or a home office; the ED will work with the OBPO and Open Book teams through the web, email, and phone. The organizations provide employees with the physical resources necessary to accomplish the organizations’ activities. The position offers a salary of $50,000–55,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
