Kevin Connolly

Coach House Books has recently announced that poet Kevin Connolly will be stepping down as the press's poetry editor, leaving behind the two-person team of Jeramy Dodds and Susan Holbrook, who he recruited in 2011 to form a selection board after serving as the press's sole editor since 2007. Connolly's tenure at the press coincided with a large jump in its prestige. Under his guidance, Coach House books attracted many new and up-and-coming poets, some of which would go on to win or be nominated for many awards.

[Connolly's] tenure saw Coach House poets nominated for three Griffin Poetry Prizes, three Trillium Awards, one GG, one A.M. Klein, two Lambdas, two Lowthers, one Audre Lordes and the list goes on . . . We'll miss him dreadfully, though he'll always be a good friend to the press.

The 2012 poetry catalog will be the last one that Connolly will see from start to finish, though some of the projects that he is editing now will continue to be published in the coming years. Connolly will be taking advantage of his reduced responsibilities to work on his own writing, which in the past has earned him nominations for the Griffin Poetry Prize and the Trillium Book Award.
