From our friends at Kingston WritersFest:
Kingston WritersFest's annual writing contest TeensWrite! is back, and better than ever.
Win prizes and a chance to have your work published on-line and in a local newspaper!
High School students are invited to submit their original poem, short story, memoir, or essay to Kingston WritersFest’s annual student writing contest. Write no more than 750 words on any topic you choose and include these five words:
shelter veer heart liberate edgy
The words can be in any grammatical form (eg. sheltered, sheltering) and must be underlined. We are looking for creativity and quality of writing. See the full contest rules here.
This year the contest has two categories.
Category one is for students in grades 9 & 10 with an E-reader for the winner and $100 for one finalist.
Category two is for students in grades 11 & 12 with cash prizes of $300 for the winner and $100 for one finalist.
Winners and finalists will have their work published on this website.
Deadline: April 11
We welcome submissions from home schools, private schools, and both local school boards. Submit your work to your English teacher or school librarian (Limestone District School Board and Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board) or submit on-line to contest@kingstonwritersfest.ca
