Loblaw Companies Limited (Loblaw) and The Writers’ Trust of Canada announced today that they have reached an agreement to promote the five shortlist nominees for the 2012 Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction. This promotional effort will be appearing in over 200 Loblaw stores starting on September 25.
This kind of wide-spread promotion of Canada's literary talent is a great achievement for Canadian publishers and writers. Loblaws® at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto will even be hosting two events to further show their commitment and involvement for the award and its shortlist nominees: a press conference on September 25 announcing the five finalists; and a book signing with the prize finalists on October 20.
“The Writers’ Trust enthusiastically welcomes this terrific commitment to Canadian writers from Loblaw.” said Peter Kahnert, Writers’ Trust Chair and senior vice-president, Raymond James Ltd.
The Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction is a prestigious annual literary award for a book of nonfiction published in Canada. The prize winner-announced later this year-will receive $60,000.
