SALON Theatre Productions and Kingston WritersFest have partnered to present two literary evenings as part of Macdonald Week 2015, a series of arts-focused programming marking the 200th Birthday of Canada's first prime minister, Sir John A. Macdonald. Barbara Bell, Kingston WritersFest Artistic Director, says that the organization is "particularly excited that there will be a performance aspect to these [literary] events."

On January 7, 2015 join SALON and WritersFest for the exclusive book launch of Macdonald at 200: New Reflections and Legacies (Dundurn), a collection of 15 essays written by leading academics and historians shedding new light on Macdonald's life and policy, co-edited by Patrice Dutil and Roger Hall. This wine and cheese event will feature readings by the co-editors and contributor David A. Wilson, with conversation to follow. For more information on the launch, please visit our Event Page.

On January 8, 2015 SALON and WritersFest will welcome authors Gordon Henderson and Roy MacSkimming for a theatrical and literary night. The authors will be joined by the SALON Acting Company as they explore writing and performing the genre of historical fiction. Gordon Henderson will present excerpts from his newly released novel, Man In The Shadows (HarperCollins) and Roy MacSkimming will give a preview reading from his soon-to-be-released book The Secret History of Sir John A. For more details on the event, please visit our Event Page.

The two events are free of admission and will take place at the Central Branch of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library.
