Book lovers and film buffs are a match made in heaven, and thanks to TIFF's Books on Film series, you can indulge your love of page and picture at the same time.
The series celebrates and screens acclaimed films that started their narrative lives as books. Before each screening, audiences are treated to in-person discussions with filmmakers and writers about subjects such as adaptation, writing processes, finding inspiration in books, and much more.
Now in its fifth year, the series has proven to be a popular one, bringing in authors and filmmakers from around the world to chat with series host, CBC's Eleanor Wachtel. The 2015 edition promises to be a particular draw, with fan favourites like Kazuo Ishiguro, British journalist and former Penthouse editor Lynn Barber and Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh in the mix.
Books on Film kicks off this year on March 2, 2015 with a conversation featuring esteemed Shakespeare scholar James Shapiro, who will discuss Ralph Fiennes' modern-day adaptation of Coriolanus.
The full 2015 TIFF Books on Film line up:
March 2: James Shapiro on Coriolanus
March 16: Kazuo Ishiguro on The Remains of the Day
