During her speech, Elizabeth Hay explained why she was excited about Project Bookmark: “Now what Bookmarks do is that they make...imaginative reality visible and permanent. So you’re walking along the street and suddenly you meet the street in a book. The place under your feet comes alive because here it is, fully imagined in a story or a poem. And in one stroke you enter the book and you enter the city and both seem more real.”
