Today, the Canal is operated by Parks Canada. During the summer, it is used by recreational boaters and tour boats, and in the winter it becomes the world’s largest skating rink. If you are ever in Ottawa during the winter, be sure to spend an afternoon skating on the Canal, then stop for hot chocolate and a Beaver Tail (a delicious pastry)!
