Details
The workshop focuses on providing participants with the skills to create their own performance pieces ready for the stage.
...Broken into two segments, the first focuses on the page, and the use of techniques, literary and otherwise, that help produce a sound and fulfilling written piece. Topics such as what to write about; why write; how and where to find inspiration; what to do about writers' block and so on will be delved into and discussed, in addition to engaging the participants in various writing exercises.
The second segment focuses on going from the page to the stage. It deals with the verbal expression of written pieces, as well as the process of performance and the art of conveying the message and idea of a piece to a listening audience both articulately and effectively. Topics such as tone, voice, confidence, eye contact, memorization and so on will be explored. Ideally, the participants will then perform a piece in front of one another.
The workshop encourages vocal participation and discussion and the free flowing of ideas as well as involvement in all the activities. That way, both the conductor of the workshop and the participants can learn from each other in a symbiotic and relaxed environment
