Cobourg's 3rd Thursday Reading Series begins for 2013 on January 17th. Put on by the Cobourg Poetry Workshop, this monthly series has run uninterrupted for ten-and-a-half-years now. These poetry readings are open to the public. The start time is 7:30 p.m. but “doors open” at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free. Come, join our audience. The location is “Meet at 66 King East” in Cobourg. Coffee, tea, wine, desserts and other wonderful fare is on sale before the event begins, during intermission and throughout the evening.

Scheduled to read on Thursday, January 17 are two poets from Arts-rich Prince Edward County, Roz Bound and vivien masseau taylor. As well as being key movers in the vibrant literary life in “The County,” these two wonders have been long-distance members of the CPW over many years, always lending active support to our poetry scene here.

Our Guest Poet is Alan Butcher of Cobourg, who was a founding member of the CPW, putting in innumerable hours as a volunteer when acting as the group’s Convenor for years up to 2007. Alan has published a number of very impressive books, the latest of which is a poetry collection titled The silence of the North, Arctic sonnets (Bookland Press).

Roz Bound will be releasing her latest (and long-awaited) book The Fireman’s Child at this reading.
