As part of the Waterloo Print Studio, the Waterloo Community Art Centre (the Button Factory) is hosting a monthly lecture series featuring prominent Ontario artists with a focus on printmaking.
On Friday, September 23rd at 7pm, George Walker will give a talk entitled “Printmaking and the Visual Narrative” about his books showing their visual narratives and the xylography used to create them. In the wordless book, reading sequential images requires concentrated effort to decode features, forms and symbols that constitute the language of the image within the frame of visual culture. Don't miss an event where George takes you into this unique form of storytelling using one of the oldest forms of printmaking, the woodcut.
ABOUT:
George A Walker, RCA, is an associate professor at OCADU, the graphic novel editor for Porcupine’s Quill, and also works as creative director for Firefly Books Ltd. He co-founded Columbus Street Press in 1985 with his wife Michelle, and established Biting Dog Press in 2000.
