London Poetry Slam welcomes Lisa Slater as the feature poet for January. Kick off the New Year with a slamming evening of words!

Lisa Slater is a queer spoken word artist living in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Feminist, survivor, and community builder, Slater’s poems explore what it means to reclaim our bodies and identities from what broke us open and how we relearn love, sex, friendship and family in the process. A finalist at the 2012 Individual World Poetry Slam and a 2011 Vancouver Poetry Slam team member, Slater’s work has been published in The Moose & Pussy and Poetry is Dead.

Slam is back to their regular time (doors at 7:30, slam starts at 8), same place (London Music Club, 470 Colborne St), same price (ONLY $5), and same rules (sign up at the door, team pieces welcome, no props, no costumes, no nudity, no hate speech, original work only).

Bring your friends, your fam, your snapping fingers, and of course, your poems!

Check out the Facebook Group ‘London Poetry Slam’ for the event and don’t say maybe, say yes!
