When was the last time someone read you a story? Our brains are hard-wired for this – the history of storytelling and listening dates back to the primal campfire. It’s how we learned about ourselves and our world.

Every year the festival has a fresh new vibe and energy. For the past seven years the festival has enriched the culture of our city and established itself as a major Canadian festival, characterized not only by the caliber of guest authors, but also by the enthusiasm and engagement of the audience.

We bring together the very best local, national, and international writers of contemporary fiction and non-fiction: historians, explorers, journalists, and poets to explore the written world, and share stories and brilliant conversation.
