Kingston Writersfest kicks off its fifth year with the International Marquee: Apocalypse Now!
Margaret Atwood and Nathaniel Rich explore climate-induced catastrophe in brilliantly complex novels of apocalyptic manners, where the survival of nature – and human nature – is up for grabs. MaddAddam is the final installment of Margaret Atwood’s trilogy; Nathaniel Rich’s Odds Against Tomorrow is set in a near-future New York where a mathematician measures worst-case scenarios within a culture obsessed by fear. Do these imagined futures make climate change more real? Or is narrative the last refuge of a civilization taken to the brink by technology run amok? In conversation with Hal Wake.
