Details

Two criminal lawyers enter the dark world of crime fiction with critically-praised new mysteries. Peggy Blair, who has worked as both a criminal defence lawyer and crown prosecutor, makes her mystery debut with The Beggar’s Opera, set in steamy contemporary Cuba and pitting Canadian detective Mike Ellis against Inspector Ramirez, head of Havana’s major crimes unit. Joining Blair is Robert Rotenberg, still a practicing criminal lawyer and author of Old City Hall, The Guilty Plea, and now, Stray Bullets, crime thrillers that draw on Rotenberg’s insider knowledge of the shadowy corridors of Toronto’s courthouses to animate his inimitable detective, Ari Greene. Moderated by Eric Friesen.
