Author Kristel Thornell is on tour for her first novel Night Street. She'll be doing a lecture tour along with a slide presentation.

Night Street began with Kristel’s first encounter with the paintings of the now famous Clarice Beckett at the Art Gallery of South Australia. The subtle power of Beckett’s landscapes enabled her to imagine Clarice’s inner life, shaping the artist’s history into a passionate, erotic and altogether astonishing novel. It is the story of a woman who finds independence and personal strength through creative expression.

Kristel grew up in Sydney and the Blue Mountains. She has lived in North America for much of the last ten years, in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, where she completed an MA in English at the University of New Brunswick. She has also taught Italian language and literature, French and Spanish, and has published reviews, poetry, and fiction in a range of journals. She now lives in upstate New York.
