Writing doesn’t have to be a purely artistic endeavour — and we mean that in a good way! You can actually make money from it, and learn to enjoy the non-writing activities a writing business necessitates. Unleash your left brain for a change, and learn how to succeed at the business of writing. Whether you’ve got designs on a part-time income, are already working as a freelance writer but want to make more money, are looking to turn a hobby into some extra cash, or hope to take your knowledge of writing and/or editing and grow it into a thriving small business, this workshop is for you.
Morning: Manage Your Writing/Editing Business Almost Painlessly
- master the time/money connection
- successfully manage your time
- set priorities — works even for procrastinators!
- develop a spending plan
- tackle your taxes (ew! yuck — but you can do it!)
- organize your days, your files, and your workspace for good
Afternoon: Grow Your Business Through Savvy Marketing
- formulate a marketing plan and learn how to execute it
- leverage social media
- break into new markets
- explore or cement your USP (unique selling proposition) and cultivate your personal brand
- learn to think visually and quickly design your own promotional materials
This interactive, all-day workshop will leave you energized, brimming with creativity (believe it or not!) and excited about tackling the business side of your business.
Faciliators:
Left brain: CMA and small business expert Rosalyn Cronin, author of The Healthy Business: Shape Up, Survive & Thrive, A Get-Fit Program for Small Business
