The June Philosophers' Café is part of the 2012 Niagara Literary Arts Festival. It's a free event open to all, so bring a friend.

While at the meeting feel free to explore beyond traditional dialogue. If you have any form of artistic expression you feel is related, i.e. poetry, pictures, song.

Topics for discussion include (but are not limited to):

What are the characteristics of literature ?
Who decides what is literature ?
Which do we prize more: readability or literary merit?
As self-publishing becomes easier with electronic formats will it become more difficult to tell the difference?
Should libraries stock only good literature on their shelves?
Can time transform bad literature into good literature as societal norms change?
Do best seller lists or literary prizes define the difference between good and bad literature?
Is there a stigma associated with trade literature? Is it only for the uneducated?
