Canada and the European Union are negotiating a new Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). This is a big deal for Canada. So far, negotiations have been quietly taking place behind closed doors.

6:30p.m.: Meet and Greet.
7:00p.m.: Town Hall Talk and Discussion on CETA and What We Can Do to Stop It by Maude Barlow, Paul Moist, Dr. Linda Wayne and MC Penn Kemp. Local musicians, artists and organizations included.
A City Forum that can't be missed! Learn more about how CETA threatens Canadian communities and how you can help stop this deal.

Why CETA is a bad deal for Canada.

If CETA is signed it will:
  • Threaten our democracy by putting corporate rights first
  • Encourage privatization of Canada’s drinking water and wastewater services
  • Threaten local job creation and buy-local policies
  • Cause prescription drug costs to skyrocket by at least $2.8 billion per year
  • Allow big corporations to ignore or challenge environmental regulation

Featuring Maude Barlow, National Chairperson of the Council of Canadians, and Paul Moist, National President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, this Town Hall event is part of a cross-country tour with the Council of Canadians and CUPE. A night to acknowledge this cross-roads moment in Canadian history. Will we allow Canada (and all our glorious offerings from public health care to water) be sold? This is a call to action. The moment is now.
