This show, which presents image/text artworks from a regional perspective, features:
John Di Leonardo’s (Whitby) richly layered paintings pop with vivid flares of colour and pizzazz. Toni Hamel (Oshawa) draws inspiration from vintage lens-based imagery and fonts that inspire feelings of déjà vu and longing. Collaborating as a team, Helen Bajorek-MacDonald and Jean-Michel Komarnicki (Courtice) couple the poetry of words and photographic images that evoke another time and another place. Kal Honey (Brampton) premieres his monumental installation, General Classification. Inspired by the Tour de France, this graphical endurance race tests the limits of athletic and aesthetic stamina. Ingrid Ruthig’s (Ajax) “textworks” reveal layered public and private language experiences overlapped with images.
