Author, publisher, book reviewer, and award-winning editor Sandra Kasturi will be speaking at the next Writers’ Community of Durham Region (WCDR) RoundTable on October 12th, 2013.
Pre-registration is required – deadline for registering is 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
Sandra Kasturi is the co-publisher of the World Fantasy Award and British Fantasy Award-nominated press, ChiZine Publications, and co-creator of the children’s animated series, Sinister Horde. Her work has won several prizes for writing, including the Whittaker Prize and first place in ARC Poetry Magazine’s 10th Annual Poem of the Year Contest. Her reviews have appeared in The Globe & Mail, The National Post, and The Toronto Star. She has been published in various magazines and anthologies, including Taddle Creek, ON SPEC, Prairie Fire, Contemporary Verse 2, Shadows & Tall Trees, and several of the Tesseracts anthologies. Sandra managed to snag an introduction from Neil Gaiman for her poetry collection, The Animal Bridegroom (Tightrope Books). Her second collection, Come Late to the Love of Birds, came out in 2012.
At the monthly WCDR RoundTable, experienced and aspiring writers gather, learn, and connect over a gourmet breakfast at the Ajax Convention Centre on Beck Crescent, south of Highway 2, off Chambers Drive, near Salem Road. The October 12th meeting will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Registration fees are $25.00 for members who pre-pay, or $30.00 at the door. The non-member rate is $35.00 and MUST be pre-paid.
