Wayne Grady and Merilyn Simonds will read from Breakfast at the Exit Café: Travels through America at Collected Works.

Told in alternating voices, Breakfast at the Exit Café starts as a trip home from Vancouver to Kingston, taking the long way down the Pacific Coast, through the deep south and up the eastern seaboard of the United States. But environmental disaster and their own irrepressible curiosity quickly turn their months on the road into a journey of discovery. For more about the book, visit breakfastattheexitcafe.com.

Wayne Grady is one of Canada’s finest science writers and a Governor General’s Award-winning translator. He has authored fourteen books of nonfiction, translated numerous novels, and edited more than a dozen anthologies of short stories and creative nonfiction. In Breakfast at the Exit Café, he discloses his African-American lineage, a background that adds poignancy to the couple’s sojourn in the Deep South.

Merilyn Simonds is the author of fourteen books, including the novel The Holding, selected a New York Times Editor’s Choice, as well as acclaimed works of literary nonfiction The Lion in the Room Next Door and The Convict Lover, a finalist for the Governor General’s Award. She and Wayne live on a small acreage north of Kingston.
