The next regular breakfast meeting hosted by The Writers’ Community of Durham Region (WCDR) will feature an exciting Canadian literary talent as guest speaker. Camilla Gibb’s 2005 novel Sweetness in the Belly was a national bestseller, a Scotiabank Giller Prize finalist, and winner of the Trillium Award. In 2010, her novel The Beauty of Humanity Movement was one of the most eagerly anticipated Canadian books of the year. Her novels have been translated into fourteen languages and published to rave reviews around the world.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Born in England, Camilla Gibb grew up in Toronto. She has a Ph.D. in social anthropology from Oxford University. Her first novel, Mouthing the Words, won the City of Toronto Book Award in 2000, and to date, has been published in 14 countries. Her second novel, The Petty Details of So-and-So’s Life, was an acclaimed national bestseller. The Beauty of Humanity Movement is a deeply observed and skillfully wrought novel about the reverberation of conflict through generations, the enduring legacy of art and the redemption and renewal of long-lost love. The breakfast meeting offers an outstanding opportunity to hear this renowned author speak about her writing and experiences.

Fees are $20.00 for members who pre-pay, or $25.00 at the door. The non-member rate is $25.00 and MUST be pre-paid. No tickets will be available at the event. Fees cover the cost of a hearty breakfast and a seat to hear the guest speaker.
