2011 Call for Submissions for The Dave Greber Freelance Writers Awards

Share |

Freelance writers wishing to apply for the book or magazine awards can submit their work from Monday, March 14, 2011 until day end Friday, June 17, 2011.

The separate book and magazine awards recognize excellence of writing and research in the area of social justice writing and also provide support for independent freelance writers during the publishing process.

The awards provide support to working Canadian freelance writers when they most need it in their work cycle and give special regard to those working in the area of social justice.

The awards honour the memory of Dave Greber whose death in 2000 prompted his partner Shirley Dunn to establish a fund in his honour and perpetuate his professional values.

Since its inception in 2004 the award has been open to both book or magazines submissions but in 2007 a second separate award was created that recognizes the shorter publishing time lines specific to magazines. To highlight, The Dave Greber Freelance Writers Awards are now open to writers residing anywhere in Canada.

Information about the criteria for the awards is set out in the Call for Submissions and can be found here.
