From our friends at Humber College:

Prince Edward Island has long been a special place for writers and lovers of children's literature thanks to everyone's favourite redhead, making it the perfect locale for the Insider’s Guide to Writing and Publishing for Young Readers. Presented in partnership between P.E.I.’s Holland College and Toronto’s Humber College, the workshop will run from July 10-11, 2015.

Over the course of the two-day workshop, Cynthia Good and Rick Wilks, two of Canadian publishing's most experienced professionals, will offer practical suggestions and inspiration to writers of all levels and stages of writing. “Humber is delighted to be partnering with Holland College for this event,” says Cynthia Good. “Children’s publishing for all ages is the area of growth in publishing and what better place to encourage writing for kids than in Prince Edward Island?"

Each day of the workshop will be divided into two segments, one for writing and one for publishing, offering participants well-rounded advice on all facets of writing and publishing their work. The writing segments will focus on developing outlines to help writers finish and sell their books. Though manuscripts are not required, those who do have them will get feedback on one chapter. The publishing segments will discuss the current publishing landscape, explore traditional and self-publishing models, provide business details and help writers to construct query letters for publishers and literary agents.

For more information on the workshop, please visit the Humber College website. Workshop registration is open now, and information on registration and on-site accommodation is available by emailing Maria Driscoll at MHDriscoll@hollandcollege.com. Contact Cynthia.good@humber.ca for more information on workshop content.
