Share |

The 7th Annual Women's Work Festival, co-produced by RCA Theatre, She Said Yes! and White Rooster Theatre, are seeking works-in-progress submissions by women playwrights of any experience level for the 2013 festival (May 9-12). The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m., December 15, 2012.

Do you need to hear your work read out by a cast of actors? Are you seeking feedback from a dramaturg? Do you wish to hear your words in front of an audience? If so, please apply!

To be eligible, plays cannot yet have been produced, although they may have been workshopped, developed, or read previously. They must be written by a female playwright or feature a female character as the central figure.

Each script chosen will receive a 1-day workshop complete with professional cast and dramaturg, followed by a staged reading in St. John's, Newfoundland. All those involved will receive a small honorarium.

Playwrights must be available to travel to St. John's between May 1-12, 2013. Transportation and accommodations are not covered, and out-of-town playwrights are encouraged to apply for travel grants at your local arts councils or the Canada Council for the Arts.

Billeting can be arranged if preferred. All proceeds from this reading series will be donated to a local women's shelter.

For more information, and submission guidelines, check out She Said Yes! Theatre's detailed listing.

Applications will be juried by a reading committee comprised of representatives from all three companies. Applicants will be notified of the results by email in February 2013.
