The Canadian Library Association Announces the Winners of Three Annual Book Awards

The Canadian Library Association has announced the winners of three annual book awards, the 2013 Book of the Year for Children Award, the CLA Young Adult Book Award and the Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon Illustrator’s Award, which were selected from a long list of finalists.

The winner of the 2013 Book of the Year for Children Award is Susin Nielsen’s The Reluctant Journal of Henry K. Larsen (Tundra Books). The runners-up are Cyndi Sand-Eveland’s A Tinfoil Sky (Tundra Books) and Allan Stratton’s The Grave Robber’s Apprentice (HarperCollins Canada). To see the announcement, click here.

Martine Leavitt’s My Book of Life by Angel (Groundwood Books) is the winner of the Young Adult Book Award. The Honour Books are Kathy Stinson’s What Happened to Ivy (Second Story Press) and Alice Kuipers’ 40 Things I Want to Tell You (HarperCollins Canada).
