Announced earlier this week, CBC plans to launch Canada Writes on cbc.ca/books in August, a place to promote original Canadian writing. The site will continue to host the CBC Literary Awards competition for unpublished English- and French-language works. However, the competition has now been divided into three categories: short story, creative nonfiction and poetry. The Short Story Prize is first up, opening September 1 and closing November 1.
In addition, Canada Writes will feature year-round literary competitions in a variety of formats and genres, as well as provide workshops with well-known Canadian writers.
