On June 13, 2013 the winners of the Griffin Poetry Prize will be announced at a gala event in Toronto, and CBC Books is offering book lovers a chance to have a glimpse at the Canadian and international award-nominated poetry collections. The winner in each category will win $65,000 and each finalist will receive $10,000 for participating in the shortlist readings at Koerner Hall in Toronto.
The Canadian Shortlist includes What’s the Score (Mansfield Press) by David W. McFadden, Sailing to Babylon (Able Muse Press) by James Pollock and Personals (Freehand Books) by Ian Williams. The International Shortlist includes Like a Straw Bird It Follows Me, and Other Poems (Yale University Press) by Ghassan Zaqtan, Liquid Nitrogen (Giramondo Publising) by Jennifer Maiden, Night of the Republic (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) by Alan Shapiro and Our Andromeda (Copper Canyon Press) by Brenda Shaughnessy.
