Deborah Ellis's Breadwinner Trilogy Publishes Across the Middle East and Indonesia

Share |

Congratulations to former Open Book WIR Deborah Ellis and Groundwood Books! The Breadwinner Trilogy, a YA series set in Afghanistan and Pakistan, has recently been published in Farsi translation in Indonesia and Iran. It is scheduled for publication in Afghanistan in 2012 and will appear in Tajikistan in Cyrillic in the same year.

Deborah Ellis, a writer from Simcoe, Ontario, has already seen the Breadwinner books published in 17 countries and translated into 24 languages, but its release in the territories in which it is set — and especially in Iran — is a remarkable achievement. One hundred per cent of the royalties from these books have been donated to the charities Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan and Street Kids International.
