From our friends at the Spring Pulse Poetry Festival:
Established in Cobalt Ontario in 1970, it's one of Canada's oldest national poetry contests. The Drummond Poetry Contest honours the memory of William Henry Drummond (1854-1907), "Canada's first national poet and literary superstar" as well as doctor and silver mine owner in the Cobalt area. His poetry was included in many anthologies through the years including: The New Oxford Book of Canadian Verse (1982).
The Drummand Poetry Contest features $1000 in prizes, an anthology, a new trophy, and award ceremony at the Spring Pulse Poetry Festival in Cobalt on Friday May 13.
Deadline for entries 2011 March 28. More info: http://www.springpulsepoetryfestival.com/03-drummond.htm
