This week, one of our favourite book blogs, The Afterword, is posting excerpts from Finding the Words (McClelland & Stewart). Edited by Jared Bland, Finding the Words is a collection of essays about the writing life by Canadian and international authors. All proceeds from the book go towards PEN Canada. Today's excerpt is from an excellent essay by Steven Heighton, in which he writes about inspiration, boredom, play, work, the 'nightmind' and the 'daymind.' Read the excerpt, but be warned, it might inspire you to shut off your computer, turn off your phone and let your daymind wander.
