Shannen and the Dream for a School

The winner of the First Nation Communities Reads program is Janet Wilson’s Shannen and the Dream for a School (Second Story Press). It's a story about a young girl’s fight to get a new school in Attawapiskat, a community in Northern Ontario.

Janet is a Canadian artist, author of books for children and youth. She’s also an inspirational speaker and a fine artist in all media.

The community reading program was launched in 2003. In Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and the Yukon, the winning title will be promoted through a poster campaign at public libraries.
