Established in Cobalt, Ontario in 1970, the Dr. William Henry Drummond Poetry Contest is one of Canada's oldest national poetry contests. The contest honours the memory of William Henry Drummond, a doctor and silver-mine owner in the Cobalt area who became known as Canada's first national poet and literary superstar. Award winners will be honoured with a total of $1000 in prizes, inclusion in the anthology, a new trophy and recognition at the award ceremony at the Spring Pulse Poetry Festival in Cobalt in May 2011.
