Kids Can Press Partners with ONEXONE

Kids Can Press has partnered with ONEXONE to raise funds for children’s charities with David J. Smith’s new book, This Child, Every Child. The partnership was announced on Saturday, September 11th at ONEXONE gala at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Corus Entertainment’s Kids Can Press will donate a portion of its revenues from the North American sales of its upcoming David J. Smith book, This Child, Every Child: A Book About the World’s Children, to the children’s charity ONEXONE Foundation, founded five years ago.

Corus Entertainment will promote the book, the cause and the partnership through media airtime to support the initiative. Doug Murphy, President, Television, Corus Entertainment noted: “Corus brands and characters reach kids and families throughout the globe. This is a wonderful fit and a unique opportunity for Corus to improve the lives of children by leveraging our platforms and properties to impact our partnership with the work of ONEXONE.”

As This Child, Every Child illustrates, many children lack the basics they need to survive and thrive. ONEXONE is working to change that by making a difference in children's lives in Canada, the United States and around the world with programs dedicated to five fundamental pillars: water, health, education, play and food. Their programs range from the First Nations Breakfast program which feeds 3,000 Canadian children daily, to the “Backpack" program in the USA, which ensures the over 90,000 children who participate in their school's lunch initiative during the week do not go hungry on weekends, to the Millennium Villages program that helps thousands of kids get into school and stay in school in Rwanda.

Illustrated by Shelagh Armstrong, This Child, Every Child is in production now and will be published and distributed by Kids Can Press in March 2011 in Canada and the United States. This Child, Every Child is “a book about the world’s children” that combines surprising statistics and a global perspective about what it means to be a child, the same approach that was used in David J. Smith’s If The World Were A Village, a global bestseller, published in 17 languages and 20 territories world-wide, and also his most recent book, If America Were a Village. Combined, the two books have sold more than half a million copies.
