Kingston WritersFest

Kingston WritersFest kicked off yesterday and continues to Sunday, September 25th. The festival is attracting readers and writers from home and abroad. Last night's International Marquee featured J.M. Coetzee and Paul Auster in an intensely interesting and moving conversation. After the event, we Open Bookers found many familiar faces — both local and from out of town — in the lobby of the recently refurbished Grand Theatre. We were delighted to bump into Catherine Bush, Steven Heighton, Kathryn Kuitenbrouwer, Pasha Malla, Ian Reid, Merilyn Simonds (the festival's Artistic Director) and Carolyn Smart.

Good news: there are still tickets available for some of the events. You can find full details at the Kingston WritersFest website. Open Book will be at the festival all weekend, and we hope to see you there!
