It was announced yesterday that best-selling Scott Pilgrim author and London, Ont.-native Bryan Lee O’Malley will release his next graphic novel Seconds at Random House’s Villard imprint in summer 2013. The work will be a stand-alone. This is all O’Malley has released about his upcoming title so far. Both Scott Pilgrim and his previous novel, Lost at Sea, were published by Oni Press.
This announcement has been much anticipated since the 6-volume Scott Pilgrim series took off, first with a devoted fan-following, then with a video game and critically-acclaimed film. In response to the series’ success, O’Malley garnered much respect from the comic industry and has won the Doug Wright Award for Best Emerging Talent and the Joe Shuster Award for Outstanding Canadian Cartoonist. He has also been nominated for three Harvey Awards, two Eagle Awards and an Eisner Award for Best Writer/Artist-Humor.
