The upcoming Niagara Literary Arts Festival (June 1-30), a month-long event of readings, workshops and park events, invites you to take part in Gregory Betts's Plunderverse Workshop on Saturday, June 18th in St. Catharines.
Come delve into the high seas of literary piracy and watch yourself transform into a barnacle on board the great ship Appropriation. T.S. Eliot once said that all "good poets steal" (itself a stolen line), but the world of theft-as-art sails far beyond the horizon of passing oneself off as a "good poet." The afternoon will combine an exploration of the contexts of literary appropriation and plagiarism as well as leading experiments with various techniques and methods of creative cribbing.
There are a limited number of spots available; entry fee is $15. For information and registration please contact Gregory Betts at gbetts@brocku.ca.
