Winners of the 2011 Trillium Book Awards Announced!

The winners of the 24th annual Trillium Book Awards were announced Friday afternoon at a luncheon at the Bram and Bluma Appel Salon of the Toronto Reference Library. Open Book is thrilled to congratulate the winners in all four categories:

English-language Trillium Book Award: Rabindranath Maharaj, The Amazing Absorbing Boy (Knopf Canada)

English-language Trillium Book Award for Poetry: Jeff Latosik, Tiny, Frantic, Stronger (Insomniac Press)

French-language Trillium Book Award: Estelle Beauchamp, Un souffle venu de loin (Éditions Prise de parole)

French-language Trillium Book Award for Children's Literature: Daniel Marchildon, La première guerre de Toronto (Éditions David)

English-language jurors were Kevin Connolly, Cordelia Strube and Meg Taylor. French-language jurors were Jean Mohsen Fahmy, Aristote Kavungu and Paul Savoie

“The winners of the 24th Trillium Book Award reflect the tremendous depth of literary talent and diversity in our province," says Kevin Shea, Chair of the Ontario Media Development Corporation. "Congratulations to all the authors — and to their publishers for nurturing such extraordinary talent. Together, they continue to enrich the lives of readers at home and around the world.”
